Punjab University's admission to undergraduate programs is primarily based on merit, which considers a combination of academic qualifications (Intermediate/HSSC or equivalent) and the score obtained in the admission test. The admission test has a weightage of 25% in the total merit calculation. While a specific passing score for the admission test isn't explicitly mentioned as a sole criterion, appearing in the test is mandatory for most undergraduate programs. The eligibility criteria for applying to undergraduate programs generally require at least 50% marks in the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or equivalent examination. Test Format:
The PU Admission Test consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) to be completed in 120 minutes. There is no negative marking. The test is divided into five components, each carrying 20% weightage:
- Verbal Reasoning (FA/F.Sc/HSSC Level English: Analogy, Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Completion, Comprehension - 4 questions each)
- Quantitative Reasoning (Matric/SSC Level Mathematics: Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Equations, Scenario-based mental Mathematics - 4 questions each)
- Subject-1 (based on the chosen test category and relevant academic stream)
- Subject-2 (based on the chosen test category and relevant academic stream)
- Subject-3 (based on the chosen test category and relevant academic stream) The test is conducted in seven categories based on relevant academic streams/disciplines:
- Pre-Engineering (PU-E)
- Pre-Medical (PU-M)
- Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences (PU-AHS)
- ICS with Physics Combination (PU-CSP)
- ICS with Statistics Combination (PU-CSS)
- General Science (PU-GS)
- Commerce (PU-COM)
Test Benefits

- Computer Science: Various specializations under ICS
- Basic Sciences: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Statistics, etc.
- Arts and Humanities: English, History, Political Science, Sociology, etc.
- Commerce: B.Com
- Pharmacy: Pharm-D (PU Admission Test or MDCAT is valid)
- Law: LLB (Both LAT and PU Admission Test are mandatory)
- Art & Design: Mandatory along with a separate Drawing/Aptitude Test
- Many other undergraduate programs.
Apply Process:
- Online Registration: Visit the PU Admission Test portal and register online by providing your basic information.
- Note Login Details: After registration, you will receive your Login ID and Password on your registered email address.
- Download Fee Challan: Log in to your account and download the fee challan. The test fee is PKR 2500/- (non-refundable and non-transferable).
- Fee Payment: Pay the fee at any branch of HBL, UBL, or via Mobile Banking through 1Bill.
- Upload Payment Proof: After paying the fee, log back into the portal and upload a scanned image or proof of your payment to complete the application process.
- Complete Application Form: Fill in the remaining required information in the application form.
- Save and Confirm: Review all the information carefully and then save and confirm your application. Once confirmed, you will not be able to make any changes.
- Download Roll Number Slip: After May 7, 2025, you will be able to download your Admit Card/Roll Number Slip from the portal.
- Appear in the Test: On the test date (June 15, 2025), appear at your designated test center with your Roll Number Slip, attested copy of your Matric/SSC certificate, and proof of fee payment for verification.
