Eligible Applicants:
- International students from any country (excluding U.S. citizens or permanent residents)
- Applicants who have completed secondary education by 2023
- Students who have not commenced post-secondary studies at another institution
Ineligibility:
- U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or dual citizens of the U.S. and another country
- Individuals enrolled in or who have already begun post-secondary studies at another university in their home country or the United States
- Graduates of secondary school earlier than 2023
Required Documents
- Common Application: Completed Common or Coalition Application for undergraduate admission
- AU EGLS Application: Specific application for the EGLS program, including essays
- Academic Transcripts: Official transcripts from all secondary and post-secondary institutions attended
- Letters of Recommendation: Typically two letters from teachers or mentors
- English Proficiency Test Scores: If applicable, official TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores
- Financial Documentation: Proof of financial need, such as bank statements or affidavits
Required Entrance Tests
- Standardized test scores are not required for admission.
- English Proficiency: Proof of English language proficiency through TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test scores may be required, depending on the applicant's background.
Full Scholarship:
- Covers all billable expenses at American University, including tuition, room, and board.
- Renewable for up to four years, contingent upon maintaining satisfactory academic performance.
Partial Scholarships:
- Up to eight partial scholarships valued at up to $40,000 per year are available.
- Candidates are automatically considered for partial scholarships if they complete the AU EGLS application process.
- Additional proof of financial resources beyond the initial $4,000 may be required for partial scholarship recipients.
