For International Students:

- Should originate from the Global South (Asia, Africa, Latin America), post-Soviet states, or Eastern and Southeastern Europe.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to social democracy and active socio-political engagement.
- Exhibit above-average academic performance.
- You are already studying in Germany at the time of your application.
- Bachelor’s students must submit their first graded performance records.
- German language skills are absolutely necessary and must be proven.

For German Students and Refugees:
- Must be enrolled in a state-recognized higher education institution in Germany.
- Should demonstrate academic excellence and socio-political involvement.

Required Documents:
When applying for the FES Scholarship, ensure you have the following documents prepared:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV): Detailed overview of your academic and professional background.
- Motivation Letter: Explaining your reasons for applying and how you align with FES's values.
- Academic Transcripts and Certificates: Official records of your academic achievements.
- Proof of German Language Proficiency: Typically at least B2 level, even if your program is taught in English.
- Two Letters of Recommendation: Preferably from university lecturers or former teachers.
- Proof of Social/Political Engagement: Documentation of your involvement in social or political activities.
- Identity Proof: Valid passport or ID card.
- Research or Study Plan: Applicable for Master's and PhD applicants.

Summer Semester: May 31, 2025.
Winter Semester: November 30, 2025.
PhD Applicants: Applications can be submitted at any time .
Required Language Proficiency

Scholarship Benefits

Application Process
