Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: Open to all international applicants (non-UK)
- Academic Offer: Must hold an offer of admission for one of the eligible MSc programs
- Fee Status: Classified as an international fee-paying student
- Academic Merit: Scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence; financial need may also be considered

Entrance Test Requirements
No specific entrance tests (such as GRE or GMAT) are required for the Higgs Scholarships. However, applicants must meet the following academic and language proficiency criteria:
- Academic Qualifications: A UK 2:1 honours degree in Physics or Mathematics, or an equivalent international qualification with substantial theoretical physics content.
- English Language Proficiency: Applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of proficiency through one of the following tests:
- IELTS Academic: Overall score of 6.5 with at least 6.0 in each component.
- TOEFL-iBT: Total score of 92 with at least 20 in each component.
- PTE Academic: Total score of 65 with at least 59 in each component.
- C1 Advanced (CAE) / C2 Proficiency (CPE): Total score of 176 with at least 169 in each component.
- Trinity ISE: ISE II with distinctions in all four components.
- Oxford ELLT: Overall score of 7 with at least 6 in each component.
These test scores must be no more than two years old at the start of the program.
Scholarship Benefits

The Higgs Scholarships at the University of Edinburgh are partially funded awards, each providing £10,000 towards tuition fees for eligible international students. These scholarships are not fully funded and do not cover living expenses or other costs
Application Process
- Apply for Admission: Submit an application for one of the eligible MSc programs.
- Access Scholarship Application: Once you have received an offer (conditional or unconditional), log in to the MyEd portal using your University User Name and password.
- Complete Application: Fill out the online scholarship application form available through the EUCLID system within MyEd.
- Submit Required Documents: Upload necessary documents as specified (see below).
